Let’s face it, as darling and wonderful as your new baby is, as a new parent you still need some “me time”. Some parents may feel guilty admitting they need a break from their newborn, but the truth is you DO need a break every now and then! You need a break to rest, shower, relax, and take care of yourself. You cannot perform at your best, or be the best parent for your new baby, when you are feeling exhausted and overwhelmed with all the responsibilities that come with your role as a new parent. In many cases, a shower and a quick trip to your favorite store or the pharmacy for a few supplies is just enough “me time” to regain your bearings. Other days, you may need a few hours out of the house, away from all the baby talk and bottle making, to experience some grown up fun.
If you are currently preparing for the arrival of a new baby, or have already welcomed your infant into your life, please remember to set aside some time a few times a week to have someone take over your parenting responsibilities so you can take some time for yourself. You can call upon a relative, trusted friend or Newborn Care Specialist (May we recommend PINK Newborn Services? Their girls are fabulous!) to help you for several hours, several times a week. When preparing for a new baby, parents think of everything from the type of bottle they will use to the socks they will put on their baby’s feet, so why not plan some time for yourself as well?
Finding time for yourself is an important part of parenting, one that parents may overlook. We at PINK Newborn Services understand that the arrival of a new baby requires transitions into new routines and habits for a family. We also understand that
having help and support during the first few weeks is incredibly beneficial to new parents because it provides them the important “me time” they require to rest, recover, and adjust to their roles as new parents. Whether you call upon family and friends or a newborn service, you will be doing yourself and your baby a huge favor by taking time to recharge.
